Leinster Cottages

In this project, we worked with a young family to update a 19th century cottage. The cottage is located centrally, walking distance to a nearby busy town. While we wished to modernise the house, we had to be sure that the design was in-keeping with the surrounding buildings. The main aspects of the modernisation occur to the rear of the house, with the addition of large, floor length sliding windows. This seamlessly connects the garden to the living space. The open-plan family rooms to the rear provide plenty of space for a busy household. While we were met with design constraints with the presence of a drain, we solved this issue by creating a feature atrium. The footprint of the site is quite small, therefore we made clever use of the limited space by installing bespoke storage solutions with natural finishes.
